iX2 Invasion case, the complet review, page 2

Once again we remind you that there are many similarities with the presentation of the iX2 as, in itself, the unit is not very different, the exterior of the case having changed very little between the prototype and the final version. Version 2 of the iX unveils a new structure in aluminium PVC, which reduces the weight. It now weighs only 2.8 kg, and it is longer at 52 cm, so that top of the range graphic cards can be fitted without any problem. We received the 'Vintage' or aged version, which this time is brown and green, as if it has spent some time outdoors and nature has started to reclaim it.



The front face remains the same, again using the trademark X. It is made of two materials: Plexiglas and aluminium. We will begin with the Plexiglas: it is O.9 cm thick and is held in place by 8 Halen screws. The form of the X is rounded and the edges have a brushed finish. This face has a 5.25" bay, two USB ports, the large Power On switch, as well as a 3.5" bay which is blanked. Behind this Plexiglas part we have the same shape in aluminium. As well as the fact that this allows a junction between the different parts of the case, the aluminium is also there to harmonize the effect, as it too has the vintage finish. A honeycomb background is also part of the finish, a detail which will appeal to some but not to others. But Invasion can customize this part.



As always the central part displays an engraving as well as he maker's logo. This time the engraving represents a stylized flower. Behind this flower a photosensitive cell lights a yellow diode at nightfall. The position of additional ports remains the same as on the prototype and now allows larger USB sticks to be used. These two photos show in close -up the aged effect on the aluminium, which seems as if it has been scratched, scrubbed, worn and rusted. The finish of the front remains excellent on all points and the elements are carefully assembled.
